Your Dressage-filled August in L.A.


It's time to fill in your August calendar with dressage! Support the Special Olympic World Games, earn some qualifying scores in "Let's Go Show IV", go wild wild west at Cool August Nights, and attend a couple clinics. In addition to the clinics below, some trainers offer regular, monthly clinics.

Special Olympics World Games

July 28– August 1 (Dressage will be held July 30)

Los Angeles Equestrian Center

The 2015 Special Olympics World Games will be the largest sports and humanitarian event anywhere in the world this year. From July 28 through August 1, the Los Angeles Equestrian Center will be the competition site for the equestrian portion of the Games. Over 130 athletes from 27 countries, speaking 16 languages compete in four disciplines, including dressage. The equestrian portion is being organized by Ride On, a local therapeutic riding program.

The competition is open to the public with free admission; come out and show your support! L.A. Chapter members (and horses!) are volunteering. Click here to read an interview with judge, Lehua Custer.

Schooling show hosted by Pacific Dressage, LLC and Robele Farms. Offered classes include: USDF & USEF Intro to FEI, New Rider, Gaited Dressage, Western Dressage, English Pleasure (group), Dressage Equitation, freestyle, pas de deux, and Prix Caprilli. Entries must be postmarked by August 1.

Judges: Melissa Creswick "S", Paula Lacy "S", Janet Hannon "S", Peggy Klump "S" (breed judge)

USEF/USDF/CDS rated show, managed by Cornerstone Event Management. Offered classes include: Intro to Grand Prix, Opportunity, Green Horse/Green Rider, freestyle, young horse, Dover Medal, and breed/sporthorse/materiale classes.

L.A. / San Juan Capistrano Chapters are hosting the CDS Southern Regional Adult Amateur Competition (RAAC) at Cool August Nights.

Charles de Kunffy Clinic - Illuminating Dressage Principles

Western Dressage Clinic with Nicole Chastain-Price & Brad Price

From Mane Event Productions Facebook: “This clinic will focus on the basics, introducing new riders to the tack, gaits, and figures of Western Dressage, and will also provide some instruction for improvement in these areas and more for experienced Western Dressage riders. Riders of all levels are welcome.”
